by Darja Tjioe Hurghada has come a long way from being a little fishing village or a town just for scuba diving. Now, with the majority of tourists coming to Egypt in the Red Sea filled with the perfect mix of guaranteed sunshine, great beaches and an entertaining nightlife, Hurghada offers all of this and more. With the great clubbing brands all flying over from Europe, there is now a great choice in venues, music styles and atmospheres. The extensive network of minibuses and taxis make it easy to get around and go club & bar hopping, so there really are no more excuses not to leave your home or the hotel and get a taste of Hurghada after Dark… ![]() Hedkandi Beach Bar ![]() Once known as the Chill, this little gem on the beach is a great hangout for those who want to lounge, dance & drink to super chilled beats. Lots of the local scuba divers and kite surfers come out here for a shisha (water pipe), a bite to eat, some of the great guest DJ’s and a monthly gig by local saxophonist Craig Hume @ Hedkandi Live. This place is the ideal combination of super hip clubbing and the typical laid back beach bar experience in the Red Sea. Little Buddha offers a great dining experience featuring Asian fusion as well as sushi. You will feel on top of the world as you are escorted to your very own corner of the place and your personal waiter takes your order. At 11.30pm the place transforms into the hottest club in town with a great cocktail menu.
The concept of the Dutch brown café works for people from all over the world. Dark & cosy, with a simple interior, this is typical Dutch ‘gezelligheid’. Both bars in Hurghada feature weekly live music, important football matches and “meters of beer”. With a great menu offering light snacks and affordable alcoholic drinks, the Papa’s will entertain you throughout the evening. These bars were some of the first bars in Hurghada, and they are still going strong.
Originally Papa’s beach, the English Club brand took over in early 2006, offering a great clubbing experience with internationally acclaimed Dj’s flying in almost every week. To suit different styles and tastes, MoS Hurghada features a different theme every day of the week, ranging from “club classics” on Mondays to R&B on Saturdays and “Disco Divas” on Sundays. New resident DJ Kid Creole’s soulful blend of house and R&B can be witnessed throughout the week along with many other guest Dj’s that will pass by in the coming summer.
Calypso is a multifunctional venue, part disco, part pub, part Chinese restaurant, as well as various appetizers. It offers daily international show and dance performances, with a great mix of the club music you know from back home and typically Egyptian shows like belly dancing and whirling dervishes. Open until the very early hours of the morning, it's also a great place to end your night out as you wait for the sun to rise.

For all you t-shirt collectors out there, there is a Hard Rock Café Hurghada available. The bar, with all its local charm and flavour, is still Hard Rock through and through. Offering the familiar menu, an excellent outdoor area with a pool and a bar, this will be one of your better Hard Rock experiences. Every Saturday from 9pm till 4am there is a special offer “All you can eat and drink for 99.99 Egyptian Pounds”. No one can pass up with its great menu, featuring all the American “classics” like fajitas, Mac & cheese and of course the great burgers.
